The Virtual Production Glossary
This database was established through a collaboration between the Visual Effects Society (VES), the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC), and a host of industry experts, with support from Epic Games and Netflix.
Given the evolving nature of virtual production, the glossary is intended to be a dynamic, industry-propelled effort rather than a static document. Suggestions for new terms and updates to existing terms are encouraged via the website and the Virtual Production Glossary Discord community.
You can find the glossary here.
Virtual production is a gamechanger and the technology is helping to solve new creative challenges and advance the development of filmed entertainment.
The Visual Effects Virtual Production Resource Center is your new online home for access to free educational resources and trend information for current and aspiring VFX professionals.
The term “virtual production” is an umbrella-term for techniques that allow filmmakers the ability to interact with the digital process in the same way they are used to interacting with the live-action process, as a means towards creative problem solving.
At Netflix, we see virtual production as an approach that connects all parts of the production process (pre through post).
